French Cor-Solo

The Cor-Solo uses the same bell design and tapers as the Halari Orchestra Horn, and has very similar playing qualities. The physical differences between the cor-solo and orchestra horn can be seen in their pictures. The cor-solo has a fixed mouthpipe, and crooks that are inserted into the tuning slide in the middle of the body of the instrument.

This model is limited to the crooks of G, F, E, E flat, and D at A=440 or 430, and is therefore best sited to the solo and chamber repertoire of the classical and early romantic periods. The cor-solo was played by many of the well known soloists of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, including Punto, Thürrschmidt, Palsa, Duvernoy, Dauprat, and Gallay.

Crooks for G, F, E, E flat, and D are included in the price of the cor-solo The instrument can be made in brass, or trimmed in sterling silver, or even made entirely out of solid sterling silver.
